Hey guys - if you're new here, I'm Shannon, and I started blogging here a long time ago... back when we had only a few tiny kids and a lot more energy.

I blogged through our family adventures... craft projects... our adoption process... and then I decided to leave Blogger and "go professional" with a "real" dot.com blog and a name change (Our Blessed Broken Life) to reflect a season of deep trauma and many hard years that almost immediately followed our adoption.

As any honest adoptive family will tell you, there are a lot of struggles. It was actually a solid seven years of deep struggle, and someday I may talk about that more. But I also came home from our adoption in Ukraine with morning sickness, and we welcomed our new baby Olivia the following April. We dove into homeschooling, and bought a house.

A few years later, we struggled through our pregnancy with our daughter Rebecca, who had Trisomy 13, and died just after birth. One year later, we welcomed our daughter Jessa unexpectedly early with a traumatic life-threatening emergency c-section and she spent the next 21 days in the NICU. And three years later we welcomed our baby boy Charlie.

It was a lot to go through on this journey, and I fell out of blogging altogether, and ended up accidentally losing years worth of posts and memories from my "professional" blog.

Well... sometimes, you just have to go back to where you started. So here I am. I'm much older, and have all the gray hair and extra skin to show for it. I feel like I have so much less to say, but a calling to say it. Our family has multiplied, and the tiny children I started my blogging journey with about are now amazing teenagers who actually love to read my old posts.

Our life has changed a ton, and it's more blessed than ever.... and I'm ready to share about it. I'm glad you're here... we've got a lot of catching up to do.
